Barbill vs WLGS

We got off to a bad start in the morning pairs going down 3:1 to the White Lion boys.  Captain Connie and Gimmers lost 2&1 to the Bristendon brothers, Deirdre and Linus were defeated 3&2 by splitter Turner and Dinage while Lard and Slimfast lost 2&1 to Demery and Holman.  Some face was saved by Jacob and Tatoo who clobbered Barnett and the other splitter Wildman 5&4.  The lunch break gave our skipper the opportunity to deliver an inspirational team-talk.  An opportunity he declined.  However, the spiked drinks served to our opponents with their meal proved fuitful as they felt the full force of a Barbill backlash in the afternoon's singles.  The skipper led from the front defeating Mark Bristendon 3&1.  He was followed in by Jonny T, Pockets, Gimley and Skeletor who beat Dinage 5&3, Keith Bristendon 2&1, Powergen 4&3 and Demery 3&2 respectively.  Unfortunately Tatoo lost out to Barnett 1up and Lard's back gave way to Holman.  As Slimfast stood on the 19th tee 1 down to Mike Turner, the match score was 6:5 in Barbill's favour meaning the big lad had to win the hole to halve his match and secure our victory.  Quite out of character, the big man hit the green and sank a 6-footer to do just that.  Barbill win 6.5 to 5.5 and Connie's year as captain was off to the best start possible.
